You will not be insured to drive whilst you are wearing a splint. It can be worn at night and removed for washing and dressing. This injury is initially treated simply in a wrist splint for 2 weeks to help reduce your pain. Injury to this bone can occur after a heavy fall on an outstretched hand but it is not always clear on initial x-rays whether it is broken or not. The scaphoid is a small bone in the wrist located on the thumb side of your hand.

However, we have not been able to exclude that you have sustained a scaphoid fracture. What is a suspected scaphoid fracture?įollowing a consultant review of your notes and x-rays it is likely that you have a wrist sprain as no definite fracture has been identified.
